What We're Doing
A congregational meeting will be held on June 25th for the purpose of calling a new associate pastor with the title of Zion Community Pastor. This will fill the vacancy left by Pastor Brent Osborne. The candidate is Theron Hobbs, Jr., who is currently serving as pastor at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Cathlamet, WA. Pastor Hobbs visited Zion Wednesday, May 10, and preached at Zion on Sunday, May 7, 2017. The meeting will be after the 10:30 a.m. service on June 25, 2017. A 2/3rds majority vote of voting members in attendance is required by the bylaws. It is the hope of the leadership of Zion that you will attend and cast a positive vote for calling Pastor Hobbs as the next Community Pastor at Zion. As Community Pastor, Pastor Hobbs would be responsible for building and strengthening Zion. A job description is available in the church office. Other questions can be addressed to Pastor John.
Zion will hold two budget forums- for discussion of the proposed 2017-18 budget. Board members will be in attendance to answer questions. Join us at Zion for one of the following forums: Sunday, July 9 at 12:30PM OR Tuesday, July 11 at 7:00PM.
Zion's Annual meeting will take place as part of worship on Sunday, July 16 at 10:30AM. Join us to celebrate all of the blessings God has provided over the past year! If you are a ministry lead at Zion, please keep an eye out for an email from Ximena Rojas asking you to submit a yearly report and photos!
Please Keep Zion Open This Summer
It isn't an exaggeration that Zion exists week by week. The simple fact is that we have no reserves and the money we receive on Sunday is gone by Wednesday to pay bills or given to those in need. Most of our expenses are fixed. For instance, the lights and a/c are on budget billing, the water bill is the same, salaries are the same. If you only give when you're at Zion and you miss a few weeks over the summer, our expenses are the same but our offerings go down. So please consider signing up for electronic giving this summer. Forms are available on the tables in the lobby by the bulletins or in the office. Fill it out with your bank information and authorize us to debit your bank account every month, 2 weeks, or every week for your offering. That way, whether you're at Zion or not this summer, Zion can keep moving the gospel ball further down the field. If you have any questions at all, contact Kate Howe. Thank you!
